If the writer's strike has left you feeling like you're missing the best of awards season, Matt McGee is here to rescue you. He's announced the launch of the SEMMYs, a new award that aims to honor the best online marketing posts of the year in more than a dozen categories. The initial list of nominees was compiled by Matt, but more than two dozen industry types (myself included) will be working to narrow the field before Matt opens it up to votes.

I'll be judging the Online Marketing/General category with fellow SEG blogger Stoney deGeyter. Of course I'll also be hoping a few of our Search Engine Guide posts will make the final cut as well.

Between all of our writers, Search Engine Guide has eighteen nominations in eight categories. We'll know if we've got any posts in the finals on January 23rd when the SEMMYs open to the public for voting. In the meantime, if you're looking to find some new blogs to add to your RSS reader, this is a great site to look over.

Matt compiled the list of finalists from the weekly round-up on his Small Business SEM blog over the past year. He's always great at finding new talent, so there's a good chance you'll find at least a couple writers you aren't already following.
