Hi Jill,
Thanks so much for your awesome info on SEO! I am an SEO copywriter and was hoping you could answer a couple of quick questions:
How many characters are allowed in the keyword Meta tag? How will the crawler treat a page that goes over this limit of characters?
Thanks so much for your time!
Best,
Stacy
Jill's Response
Hi Stacy,
It doesn't matter what you put in the keyword Meta tag. It won't have any affect on where your site will rank in the engines for the keyword phrases that are important to you. (Yes, I know that Yahoo still indexes it, but you absolutely will not rank highly for important keyword phrases due to place them in the Meta keyword tag.)
You'll want to start reading the articles at my site, as well the SEO FAQ. Plus, be sure to hang out in the forum a bit. This way you will start learning about the SEO things that truly DO matter. (I also know a great SEO seminar coming up in Dallas next month!.)
Hope this helps!
Jill
