Dear Jill,
I am surprised to see that your own website still has both the www and non-www version in place — no redirect to get the "link juice" from the non-www version. Do you consider this a not so important issue? Both versions have good PR.
Best,
Ulli
Jill's Response
Hi Ulli,
It's only important if the search engines see the non-www as a different domain from the www version. For my site, they see them as the same, so there's no reason for me to have to redirect anything.
If you view Google's cache for my non-www it says "This is Google's cache of http://www.highrankings.com/," which is how I know they see them both as the same.
Google usually figures out that they're both the same eventually, but it can take some time. So if you have a new site that you want to be sure gets listed only under the www version, I would suggest setting up a 301-redirect from the non-www version to the www version. There's lots of info in our "redirect forum."
