Ethnologue - [New Window] - A catalogue of more than 6,700 languages spoken in 228 countries. The Ethnologue Name Index lists over 39,000 language names, dialect names, and alternate names. The Ethnologue Language Family Index organizes languages according to language families.

Human-Languages Page, The - [New Window] - A comprehensive catalog of language-related Internet resources. The links in the HLP database have been hand-reviewed to bring you the best language links the web has to offer.

Search Language - [New Window] - Language resources directory. Find dictionaries, language schools, online courses, etc.

The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition - [New Window] - One of the main objectives of the Less Commonly Taught Languages Project is to track information on locations in North America where students can study specific less commonly taught languages. Our database contains information on course offerings for over 300 languages at more than 2,000 colleges and universities in North America, and at elementary, middle and high schools. More than 25 Less Commonly Taught Languages are listed on the distance ed database of credit courses. We encourage the submission of summer courses and will list them promptly.

We are in the process of adding additional detail about each program we list, and will contact all programs, asking for cooperation in adding the information.

For each language at each institution, we provide (where possible) the name, address, phone, fax, and e-mail address of a contact person. Please be advised that the contact person is not necessarily the language teacher, but instead may be a department chair or administrator.

UCLA Language Materials Project - [New Window] - The UCLA Language Materials Project (LMP) is an on-line bibliographic database of teaching and learning materials for over 150 Less Commonly Taught Languages (LCTLs). Funded by the US Department of Education's International Education and Research program, the LMP was created in 1992. It is affiliated with the UCLA Center for World Languages. Both groups are members of the UCLA International Institute.

We provide full bibliographic information for each item in the database, including detailed annotations that describe the content and other features of the material, intended to help you find the most appropriate materials to meet your individual teaching and learning needs. When possible, we provide information on how to order materials. The LMP does not sell the materials found on the database.
