I just received an email from Business.com announcing a new site - Work.com, a Web 2.0 site built for business. The site features unique "How-to
Guides" for more than 1,000 business topics, ranging from start up basics to advanced management techniques. The Guides are written by business experts who can now share their expertise with others within a
community of business experts.
An excerpt from the email:
Work.com is a community - a dynamic, user-driven web site focused on the exchange of ideas on how to run and grow a business. The community platform we created allows users to rate guides, connect with experts, and most importantly, allows our users to write guides on areas of their expertise. The platform combines many of the best elements of wikis, blogs, and collaborative directories to create a new form of content that is uniquely useful to business professionals. And from the press release itself:
Work.com’s How-to Guides combine the editorial voice and learning aspects of articles with the action-orientation of search results. These concise guides are authored by experts in the Work.com community and combine the best elements of wikis, blogs and collaborative directories in this unique new content form. Work.com’s Guides are offered in a streamlined, consistent, easy-to-use, one-page format, helping the small business owner find the answer quickly and efficiently. It looks like one of our own, Eric Ward, has already published a how to guide in this new web space. Seems like a pretty cool concept. Part Wikipedia, part directory, part blog. Now I'm off to create my profile and to check this new site for business out further.
