According to ComScore, December 4, 2006 was the heaviest e-commerce shopping day on record. Spending topped out at 647 million dollars!
If you follow the link above the graph provides a pretty clear picture of the increase in online shopping/spending that has been occurring since 2003. If you still think (quality) SEO costs too much, say hello to that guy with the beard living in the cave next to you. Even "expensive" SEO provides better return on investment over traditional forms of advertising and every year more money is being spent online than ever before.
