Discussion Threads of the Week
(Links to search engine forum discussion threads that deal with search engine marketing topics. Each listing provides the topic, the source, and a brief snippet from the discussion.)

AOL to Drop Google and Sign with MSN
Webmaster World - "According to a Wall Street Journal Article, AOL will announce a new pact with MSN to replace Google Search and Advertising solutions with with MSN Search and Advertising solutions on AOL RSN (real soon now)."

SES Chicago 2005: "Triple Play Blog Coverage"
Search Engine Watch Forums - "There will be some typos and a few possible misquotings, but generally you should get a good feel for the sessions we will cover, within about 15-20 minutes after the session is completed."

Creating Industry Links
High Rankings Forum - "Methinks you're not thinking out of the box. Don't look for sites that rank highly for the phrases you like. Look for sites that do something completely different from you, but who have a similar target audience. That should widen your chances a bit."

Managing Adblocking Users 2
Webmaster World - "What you are blocking is the method, not the user agent, so it blocks most adblockers."

I Just Lost A Contract To Google
High Rankings Forum - "The best I might obtain from the prospect that I spoke to today is an evaluation of their campaign once it has been running for a while. I agreed that the price is right but I wasn't sure if Google would identify all the possible keywords plus negatives and write a variety of ads. For sure Google will not tweak the ads and keywords once the campaign is running and this is the important part."

Need Your Questions For "Future Of SEM" Session
Webmaster World - "A panel at next week's Search Engine Strategies show in Chicago looks at where SEM is heading. What questions would you like to see covered?"

AdWords No Longer Human Reviewed?
Search Engine Watch Forums - "Are Google's search ads declining in relevancy due to less or no human editor review?"

Dealing With Negative Listings About You
Search Engine Watch Forums - "It's happened to many companies. You do a search for yourself, and in the top listings are negative things about you. What's the response? Buy ads? Create new content in hopes of pushing the negative comments out?"

Just how Important is SEO in a Biz Start Up
Small Business Brief - "Couldn't we all come up with areas that we 'lack in' and claim those as a reason for our failures? Or... is part of being an entrepreneur figuring out a solution to the problem at hand and making lemonade out of your lemons?"

The Million Dollar Page - Web's Most Public Link Farm?
Webmaster World - "It just occurred to me that all the "million dollar sites" that are popping up are nothing but link farms. Most have a very good page rank due to all the cross linking, I've seen them as high as 7 - the primary one will probably go higher in time. That is, unless Google follows its guidelines about link farms and the selling of links!"

Good Content Vs Good SEO
High Rankings Forum - "Even if a site COULD eventually rank high without proactively building inbound links, why would someone choose to wait to be discovered when they could easily accelerate the process by letting people know they exist?"

Adwords Top Sponsored Results
Search Engine Forums - "Actually from a user standpoint, which is Google's focus, it makes sense to me. Why would I want to see the ad I saw at the top of the first page also at the top of the second page?"

Link Building Ideas
Small Business Ideas Forum - "I find link building to be the most time consuming task that I have to undertake, and probably the most boring task too. Here are a few ideas to build links without too much effort."
