We all know that Google and MSN are on the way to being locked into a war that goes far beyond simply being the best search engine. Google and MSN are each aiming at being the company that completely dominates the Internet.
Both MSN and Google have much to lose if their chief competitor managed to solidify some type of deal with American Online. That said, Google really stands to lose the most. MSN has no current partnership with AOL, meaning that they couldn't really end up any worse than they already are. On the other hand, Google currently relies on it's search distribution partnership with AOL to make up about 12% of its income. An MSN takeover of AOL would strike Google's wallet fairly hard.
