Always looking for something to speculate on, bloggers are once again buzzing with talk about a potential Google WiFi launch. The talk was sparked by a FAQ that appears at the subdomain wifi.google.com and explains a bit about Google's secure WiFi options.

While it's possible that something is up, it's also possible that the data is meant for users of Google's already existing public WiFi spot in the San Francisco area. There's no guarantee that the page points toward the nationwide WiFi launch that many are hoping for.

John Battelle, The Motley Fool, Search Engine Lowdown and others are talking about it today. Om Malik already covered some of the possibilities last month.

If, as Yahoo! news says, it's true...it could revolutionize the industry and give Google the type of advertising reach that could put an end to Microsoft's game of chase...but there's a big difference between launching some public hot-spots around the Googleplex and bringing free WiFi access to everyone in America.
