Google has added yet another tool to it's stable of information organizers with today's launch of Google Reader, announced at Web 2.0 in San Francisco. Google Reader is a web-based RSS reader designed to fully integrate with other programs enjoyed by Google account holders.

Google Reader works by allowing users to either search for content, and then select feeds to add, or to simply add feed URLs directly into the system. Users can also import (or export) their subscription lists from any program offering OPML files. More information is available in the Google Reader FAQ.

One of the most interesting features of the new Google reader is the tie-in to Gmail and Blogger. Google Reader users can choose to email or blog on a story from within the reader program. That's going to make it a tempting switch for anyone already relying on Gmail and Blogger for those services.

There's a step-by-step guide to the service over at Google Blogoscoped.
