Bill Tancer of competitive research firm Hitwise has introduced a new blog that aims at tracking some of the ups and downs of searches and how they reflect current trends in shopping, current events and seasonal issues.
For instance, a recent post on halloween costumes gives some input on what you can expect to see showing up on your doorstep this year. (Hint: Batmans and Napoleon Dynamites are likely, but you won't see as many Elmos or Catwomen as last year...)
