The average per-click cost of a paid search listing is up an average of almost 20% since last year according to the latest keyword index released by the team at Fathom Online. Price jumps were even sharper in certain verticals.
Consumer services (education, fitness and entertainment) - up 78%
Consumer retail - up 44%
Consumer travel - up 42%
Wireless - up 12%
It's important to note that the areas that are seeing the most growth are areas that are still being explored by new advertisers. More mature industries like automotive and finance offerings remained fairly stable while broadband and ISP services actually saw a drop.
