It wasn't that long ago that I wrote a blog post praising Yahoo! for the decision to drop the minimum monthly spend requirement for their pay-per-click advertising program. They're on my good list once again this month for another announcement that's sure to help out small businesses. Yahoo! has now lowered the minimum deposit from $30 to just $5 for businesses looking to open up an account.
That's good news for small businesses that simply want to take a little test drive of the Yahoo! system to find out how it works. While Yahoo! already has over 100,000 advertisers, the move is sure to spark an interest in the truly small business start ups that have to watch every single penny. Yahoo! still has a ten cents per click minimum bid, (which I continue to hope they'll drop) but by lowering the barrier to entry, they've made it pretty much impossible for someone to come up with a reason NOT to try their service.
More information on the announcement is available on the Yahoo! blog.
