The Washington Post is running an article today that talks about the info leak from Google that discusses future plans to offer online storage to consumers so that they can backup their hard drives and then access the data from anywhere. The leak is interesting considering Google's current battle with the Department of Justice over whether or not they'll give up data on their users and considering the recent hype about online privacy issues.

From the article:

The existence of the previously rumored GDrive online storage service surfaced after a blogger discovered apparent notes in a slide presentation by Google executives published on Google's site after its analysts presentation day last Thursday.

"With infinite storage, we can house all user files, including emails, web history, pictures, bookmarks, etc and make it accessible from anywhere (any device, any platform, etc)," the notes in the original Google presentation state.

Chief Executive Eric Schmidt in his presentation made a cryptic comment that one goal of Google was to "store 100 percent" of consumer information.

While Google has made it clear that they are interested in archiving the world's information, you've got to wonder just how much data consumers are going to be willing to give up to the search giant. If people worry about Google and the government tracking their search activity, imagine the ruckus that would arise when the DOJ decided they wanted access to everyone's hard drives.
