For the first time in the three year history of the survey, MarketingSherpa reports that paid search advertising now tops even house email lists as the best marketing performer. 52% of marketers reported that their best results came from paid search campaigns, while only 47% claimed that house e-mail lists did. The use of both rented email lists and behavioral targeting was down this year, though overall budgets are up. Among the tactics expected to be popular in 2006...RSS feeds, blogs and video ads.
