If you're not already reading the Performancing blog on a regular basis, you should be. Here's yet another reason why. Markus Merz posts today about his experience blogging about a company and them then reaching out to him. Merz shares excellent advice about the need to contact someone that you are blogging about (or linking to) in order to let them know they are being talked about.

He also shares a classic example of a company that "gets" online reputation management. Rather than ignoring the email, or simply writing back a quick thanks, the team at Joby (the manufacturer of the product Merz blogged about) proceeded to email him back with a coupon code good for 10% off any purchase made by himself or his readers. 10% may not sound like much, and it really isn't, but even that token discount is likely to result in an influx of sales and will most definitely result in positive public relations.
