A thread at Cre8asite introduces Ergonosearch a new Google Custom Search Engine with a focus on usability. Perhaps Google Custom Search is worth a second look?

A couple of weeks ago when Google announced the Custom Search Engine I noticed the announcement, but my initial reaction really was "just another product roll out from Google" combined with "just another roll your own search announcement". A double dipper in my book.

Starting out with 125 sites included within the index, Ergonosearch now includes over 160. Based on my initial use, Ergonosearch is a good resource if you are looking for usability information and Google Custom Search Engine looks like it may not be just another roll your own search solution. The results I reviewed from Ergonosearch were very focused and brought to the front page some results I would not have noticed in comparison to a regular Google search. Of course, part of this is a function of selecting good sites to include within your own custom index. But Google does provide the rest. In the future if I am researching something related to usability I likely will stop by Ergonosearch before heading to the main Google search. And I just might even consider Google Custom Search the next time I have a need to roll my own search.
